Her interest in fashion started at an early age, and even today she draws inspiration from her childhood days in the Kosovar country side. The dire economic situation in the struggling and later war-torn country required a lot of creativity and improvisation for anyone with the desire to dress in style, a factor shaping the essence of besa's work to this day. Originally, she was trained as a visual artist, graduating in fine arts with a major in painting in her hometown, before she pursued her dream of fashion design when she moved to NY and earned her degree at the prestigious Parsons School of Design.
