Suela Kalia completed her undergraduate studies in Political Science with a focus on Development and International Cooperation at the University of Bologna in Italy. Further, she specializes in studies on Development Economics and International Cooperation at the University of Rome, Tor Vergata. Her areas of expertise are: Migration and Diaspora, Rule of Law, Human Rights, Local and International Development. She has lived for 14 years in the Diaspora (between Italy and Germany) where she has been formed academically and professionally by collaborating with international organizations. Since 2017, she has worked as a Returned Professional with the GIZ program with civil society organizations and the Albanian Fund for Diaspora Development, contributing to issues of diaspora engagement and development. She is currently an advisor to GIZ in Albania for Returned Professionals and Cooperation with the Diaspora - Global Migration and Diaspora Program.
