Roland Gjoni is a political and legal affairs expert from Albania based in Dublin, Ireland. He is currently the Newman Fellow on Constitutional Futures at the University College Dublin where he works on the “Constitutional Futures After Brexit”, a research project supported by the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs. Before joining UCD, he worked for over 15 years as a legal and political affairs expert with United Nations, European Union, USAID, World Bank and OSCE in rule of law, justice reform and anti-corruption projects in Albania, Kosovo, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Iraq.

Roland has a Master of Law (LL.M) degree from Columbia Law School under the Fulbright Scholarship and a PhD in political science from University College Dublin under the Irish Government Postgraduate Scholarship. His research interests include ethno-national conflicts, national identity and divided nations in contemporary Europe. Roland will be speaking on the first day of the online conference on 19 November 2020, at 18:00 – 19:00 (CEST) focusing on diaspora’s contribution in the political and economic developments in Albania and Kosovo.
