Dr. Mimoza Hysa is an Albanian translator, writer and researcher. She completed her studies in Italian Language and Literature at the University of Tirana, as well as in Italian Culture and Literature in Siena, Italy.
As a literary translator, she has translated in Albanian over thirty literary works by important authors of Italian literature. As a writer she is the author of four volumes in prose: "Koha e erës", 2004, "Vend/imi", 2007, "Histori pa emra", 2008, "Bijat e gjeneralit", 2019, and author of the first monographic study on the creativity of Isuf Luzaj: "Esenca dhe ekzistenca e Isuf Luzajt", 2010.
Winner of several national and international awards such as: "Ernest Koliqi" Award for best story, 2004, Grand Career Award for Foreign Translator in 2014, given by the Italian Ministry of Heritage and Cultural Activities, Translator Award of Year 2018, given by the Cult Academy, Albania, etc.
In 2015 she held the position of Advisor to the Minister of Culture on book issues, and for four years she headed the Directorate of Speech Creativity and Translation at the Ministry of Culture of Albania. From 2019, she directs the Publishing Center for the Diasporaan institution under the Minister of State for the Diaspora in Albania, with the mission of supporting the teaching of the Albanian language and culture in the diaspora.
