Ilira Aliaj was born in Albania and grew up in Athens, where her family emigrated in 1997. She studied German language and literature in Athens and Berlin and completed her Master in Cultural Management. She worked for a decade in the field of education and youth work in Greece. A scholarship in the German Bundestag brought her back to Berlin in 2015 where she worked for the German Deputy Minister of Education and Science. Since 2016 she has been serving as an education expert in the German-Israeli Youth Exchange. There she directs projects in the field of diversity, education against anti-Semitism and historical-civic education in both countries. Ilira is particularly interested in human encounters as a tool against discrimination and xenophobia. She divides her life between 4 countries but feels lucky that her journey started in Albania…
