Holti Banka is a Financial Sector Specialist at the World Bank in Washington, DC. He is part of the Payment Systems Development Group and his work focuses on improving policies and infrastructure for financial inclusion and payment systems. Holti specializes in the cost structure of payment instruments, remittances, and the development of national strategies for payment systems. In his work, Holti offers technical advice to central banks in various countries around the world, including Albania and Kosovo. Holti is also an External Lecturer in Macroeconomics at the University of Maryland, referent for several academic journals and a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Payment Strategies and Systems. Holti has published several studies on the impact of electronic payments at the micro and macroeconomic level.

Holti holds a PhD in International Development / Economic Policy from the University of Maryland and a BA in Economics and Mathematics from Williams College. Holti was born in Albania, but grew up in Greece and has lived in the United States for 15 years.
