Martin completed his PhD at the Clinton Institute (UCD) where he examined the role of the Irish diaspora in the Northern Ireland Peace Process. His PhD explored the strategic impact of diaspora networks, diaspora philanthropy, and diaspora politics on US foreign policy on the road towards peace. He was a visiting fellow at UNU-MERIT and is an advisor at The Networking Institute.
He has trained, spoken, and written on diaspora engagement for a range of public and private sector clients across Africa, the Balkans, Caribbean, Central Asia, Central and Latin America, Europe, Middle East, United Kingdom and the United States.
